Productive activities
Its main activity until the early 90's was agriculture and livestock activities that still exist, being a strong producer Fortuna tubers and fruit for export (cassava, cocoyam, taro, yam, potato china, ginger, bananas, among others.)
The constant activity of Arenal Volcano from June 1968 has been a key factor for the development of tourism in La Fortuna, an activity that began in the late 80s. In parallel, near the volcano, hot water emerged as another strong alternative to the area to attract tourism. Parades of carriages in honor of San Bosco
The last week of January the Fortuna de San Carlos puts on carriages, in honor of its patron saint San Bosco in this picturesque village has its celebration every saint and queen on a float parade from the Bank of Costa Rica to the parish church and at the end of the activity is carried out with the girls reign participants.
Fair Footprints of a Unique Costa Rica
"Footprints of a Unique Costa Rica" is a fair held in La Fortuna de San Carlos in order to promote and maintain the traditions of Costa Rica. In this fair is involved a lot tourist companies, institutions and organizations in the area.
Farmers Fair
The fair of the farmer is held every Friday in the sports center of Fortuna, in this fair the local farmers sell their products at the best price to the community.

Medicinal plants of La Fortuna
The tour starts at the family farm Sandoval Berrocal of La Fortuna de San Carlos, where is toured the garden of medicinal plants. The owner, Ms Cristina, gives an explanation of the healing properties of plants, plus an explanation of the process of collecting plants, dried and industrialization.
At the end of the journey you can enjoy a delicious herbal tea, or buy a shampoo for hair care.

Cultural Tour La Casona Rio Fortuna
We started the tour in La Fortuna around 8:00 am, during the course will discuss the interaction of people with the Arenal Volcano.
Once in La Casona and later visit the Trapiche the "tractor" will take us to the shop of Sonafluca, where visitors can buy soft drinks or cookies - if they wish - and interact with the shopkeeper and the people around .
Back in the primary school of Sonafluca, children greet us with drawings, dances and interacts richly with future generations.
Finally, around noon we return to La Casona Rio Fortuna, where we discuss the long and rich history of the place and its inhabitants over time. Here we enjoy a traditional Costa Rican typical lunch in a natural setting with a majestic view of the Rio Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano before returning to the hotels.

Farm Tour Don Carlos
It is a brief walk through lakes and gardens with tropical and medicinal plants, where tourists can enjoy the farm and nature. You also have the opportunity to milk the cows and feed calvesas well it learn about medicinal plants, spices, tubers, vegetables and fruit trees from the area.
