Our company and actions are strongly committed to the environment, that is why we are one of the only adventure company certified in sustainable tourism.

The Certification for Sustainable Tourism Program - CST - is a product of the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT). The CST was designed to differentiate businesses of the tourism sector, based on the degree to which they comply with a sustainable model of natural, cultural and social resource management.

CST is regulated by the Costa Rican National Accreditation Commission and consists of a scale of 5 "levels" of sustainable tourism achievement.

Sustainable tourism has been defined by the World Tourism Organization as one that "meets the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting and enhancing opportunities for the future.

As part of our commitment to sustainability we have implemented a series of measures that allow us to reduce the impacts generated by the company to the environment and the community.

Program support regenerating our forests, CTP La Fortuna

The staff of our company is involved in the reforestation of 5 hectares of pasture land located in the Professional Technical College La Fortuna. The objective of this program is to form a biological corridor between the forests that are protecting watersheds within the farm school.

Some species planted are: Sotacaballo (Zygia longifolia), Almond Yellow (Dipteryx panamensis), Oak coral (Terminalia sp), Golden Fruit (Virola koschnyi) among others. Join you also, come and leave your footprint.

Recycling Program

We have a recycling program, we classify the waste: paper, plastic, glass and aluminum, these are delivered to the distribution center, 4Rs environmental Women Association in Florence of San Carlos, who sent the material to the respective recyclers. The main objective of this program is to reduce the waste sent to landfill and give them a second use.

Reusing paper

The company has a policy of reusing paper and using computer systems, this in order to make the best use of this material by decreasing consumption.

In the offices of the company the program develops environmentally friendly office, which involves placing the reusable paper in a box, properly labeled, later to be used in print or notes.

Solar panels on the Sky Trek stations

Solar panels are clean technologies that allow us to obtain energy without compromising the environment, avoiding as far as possible the construction of large infrastructure of generating and distributing electricity. Due to the environmental importance of this technology, Costa Rica Sky Adventures solar panels are installed in each of the stations of Sky Trek to illuminate the platforms for the implementation of Night Tour.

Using and selling biodegradable products

Our company understands the importance it deserves the continuing search for products with a environmentally friendly, has sought over time different companies that can offer these products, maintaining quality and safety for our customers.
Today the majority of products we use are biodegradable or recycled. Some of these are:

•Florex biodegradable cleaning products
• Signs of recycled plastic
• oxo-biodegradable trash bags
• palm fiber trays
• All our offices use recycled paper

In addition, the restaurant has for sale purified water in oxo-biodegradable containers under the brand Sky Adventures. This bottle has a particle called d2w reducing the rate of decomposition of the plastic 400 to only 4 years.

This plastic disintegrates and the only waste is water, carbon dioxide and biomass that is consumed by microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria.
